When you look up at the night sky, you can see thousands of tiny lights. These are stars, just like our Sun, but much farther away. In fact, there are so many stars that no one can count them all. Astronomers estimate that our Milky Way galaxy alone has about 100 to 400 billion stars. And the universe contains billions of other galaxies, each with billions of stars of their own!

To measure this, scientists use powerful telescopes on Earth and in space. They can study small parts of the sky and then calculate how many stars might be in the entire universe. The number is so big, it’s almost impossible to imagine, possibly more than all the grains of sand on every beach on Earth.

So while we can’t give an exact number, we know that the universe is filled with stars beyond anything we can truly count. Learning about the cosmos at Vero Q&A helps us understand just how big and amazing space really is.
